Genesis 39, Mark 9, Job 5, Romans 9

If you’re following the schedule, you should read these chapters today: Genesis 39, Mark 9, Job 5, Romans 9. Click on any of those references to see all the passages in one long page on BibleGateway. If you can't do all the readings today, read Mark 9.

At the end of Mark 9, Jesus talked about “stumbling.” This means stumbling into sin and Christ had a sobering warning for everyone who leads another believer into sin (v. 42). After warning against leading another person into sin, Christ talked about how we lead ourselves into sin. He urges us to cut off any hand or foot that causes you to sin and to pull out your eyeball if that makes you sin. These are gruesome instructions. Did Christ mean this literally? If not, what did he mean?

Now for your thoughts: What stood out in your Bible reading for today? What questions do you have about what you read? What are your thoughts about what I wrote above? Post them in the comments below or on our Facebook page. And, feel free to answer and interact with the questions and comments of others. Have a great day; we'll talk scripture again tomorrow.
