Genesis 37, Mark 7, Job 3, Romans 7

If you’re following the schedule, you should read these chapters today: Genesis 37, Mark 7, Job 3, Romans 7. Click on any of those references to see all the passages in one long page on BibleGateway. If you can't do all the readings today, read Romans 7.

Excellent Bible scholars and commentators debate whether Romans 7 describes a believer or an unbeliever’s struggle with sin. There are good arguments on both sides and this is not the place for me to rehash them or take a position.*

But, think about verse 4: “So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.” What do you think Paul has in mind when he says “you also died to the law through the body of Christ”?

Now for your thoughts: What stood out in your Bible reading for today? What questions do you have about what you read? What are your thoughts about what I wrote above? Post them in the comments below or on our Facebook page. And, feel free to answer and interact with the questions and comments of others. Have a great day; we'll talk scripture again tomorrow.

*If you want to see a good, thorough summary of all the major arguments and positions on this, see this page by Sam Storms: http://www.samstorms.com/all-articles/post/romans-7. But, beware: there is a lot to digest there and this is just a summary. I warned you.
