Exodus 4, Luke 7, Job 21, 1 Corinthians 8

If you’re following the schedule, you should read these chapters today: Exodus 4, Luke 7, Job 21, 1 Corinthians 8. Click on any of those references to see all the passages in one long page on BibleGateway. If you can't do all the readings today, read Exodus 4.

Yesterday we started reading and discussing the five excuses Moses gave for resisting God’s command. We saw the first two of those excuses in Exodus 3 which were:

  • I’m unimportant (Exod 3:11)
  • I’m uninformed / unprepared (Exod 3:13)

In today’s reading from Exodus 4, we saw the final 3 excuses Moses gave which were:

  • I’m unpersuasive (v. 1).
  • I’m incapable (v. 10).
  • I’m not the best person to do this (v. 13).

Which of these excuses do you sometimes give for disobeying God’s word? What was God’s answer to these excuses for Moses and how does His answer help you in your obedience? Leave your thoughts about this (or anything we read today) in the comments below or on our Facebook page. Have a great day; we'll talk scripture again tomorrow.
